The Yanks are acting like wild West cowboys, outside of the (International) law. That oil (and it's proceeds) belongs to Venezuela, not the high sea equivalent of wild west armed bandits.

Right word, wrong context! it's the US that (like Israel) has turned out to be a 'rogue' nation operating outside International laws and norms.
Where on Earth does he get the word 'illicit' from? If America dug up oil from it's own land and Venezuela decided to slap sanctions on American oil for...???....well who knows why???..., then seizes American oil tanker in International waters, would that be OK, would that be lawful???
