So I ordered up a new pair of drive units as they had damaged one of the previous ones. I got next day delivery to minimise the chances of criminal interference. This was Wednesday, should have arrived Thursday, they arrived late on Saturday. They had been removed from original boxes and just wrapped in a bit of cardboard. One was OK, the other had the center dust cap pushed in, couldn't have happened even with inferior cardboard packing, someone (evil) did it with their thumb.
Problem made worse by the inverted dust cap touching the pole piece stopping the drive unit from moving as it should. It seemed like an impossible problem to resolve as the dust cap had resin on it making it stiff and the indentation was so severe, it couldn't be manipulated back into shape.
However these evil criminals underestimate my ingenuity as I was able to use a pin, slightly straightened key ring actually to pierce the dust cap and pop it back to how it should be, then seal the small hole with glue!
They punctured the actual cone of my previous drive unit, reducing it's rigidity, even after a repair, luckily they only targeted the dust cap this time which is not part of the speaker's integral structure. It's just as it's name suggests a cap to stop dust getting into the motor (voice coil)
These should have been brand new drive units, sealed inside there original boxes, they were not. We are being ruled by childish criminal vandals!!!
